Education
I am teaching the following courses:
- Implementing Large Scale Embedded Processors in Deep-Submicron Silicon (5kk53)
- Processor architectures and program mapping (5kk10)
- Designing Embedded Multimedia Systems (5kk00)
In this course we will focus on the VLSI design aspects of Embedded Multimedia
Systems. The impact of silicon implementations on the architecture will be discussed.
The three basic dimensions of the design space are covered: performance, area and power
dissipation. Hands-on exercises are integrated in the course.
This course is integrated into a curriculum on
Embedded Systems
with "Processor Architectures and Mapping" (5kk10) and "Multiprocessors" (5kk20)
but can be followed independently.
- Embedded Multimedia Systems (5P520)
In this course you will learn about system level architecting. The role of
the architect is becoming very important in industry since the complexity
of embedded systems, that are implemented in silicon, is growing very rapidly.
The role of the system architect is to build a system FOR the customer TOGETHER WITH
the builder. Therefore the architect must be capable of bridging the gap
between different disciplines such as software and hardware.
- Design of large scale integrated circuits (5P140)
In this course an embedded system will be designed. We have chosen a JPEG
decoder as an application. The entry level is C/C++. The output is a register
transfer netlist. The AR|T tools from
Frontier Design
will be used.
The number of students is limited to 20. Therefor you have to subscribe by sending an email to my TUE address. or to
my Philips address..
